1 Chapter a Day’s take

11 So that is what Lot chose—the Jordan Valley to the east of them. He went there with his flocks and servants, and thus he and Abram parted company.

14 After Lot was gone, the Lord said to Abram, “Look as far as you can see in every direction, 15 for I am going to give it all to you and your descendants.

Abram was very generous and gave Lot the first choice of land when the two of them had to move apart from each other. Abram was older and the tradition then would have been that he would have had the first choice. Even though Lot chose the most fertile land, God gave Abram His blessing and Abram prospered greatly! When we are generous, it may seem like we get the short end of the deal sometimes, but God always blesses us and we come out ahead in the long run.
