1 Chapter a Day’s take

Chapter 10 is a record of the descendants of Noah’s sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth. The records of geneology are pretty boring to read, but they are an important record. One of the reasons is that the Messiah’s family lineage was foretold in Isaiah so it was important that Jesus could prove who his ancestors were to prove that he fulfilled the prophecy.

Chapter 11:

Then they said, “Come, let’s build ourselves a city and a tower that reaches Heaven. Let’s make ourselves famous so we won’t be scattered here and there across the Earth.”

6-9 God took one look and said, “One people, one language; why, this is only a first step. No telling what they’ll come up with next—they’ll stop at nothing! Come, we’ll go down and garble their speech so they won’t understand each other.”

It did not take many generations after the flood for men to get “too big for their britches” as we see in verse 4– they decided to make themselves famous. So God created all the different languages to knock the pride out of them and to make sure they spread out around the world.

It is important for us to be sure we do not ever let pride take over our lives!
