09-14-12…Romans 4 — Are You “Current Reality” or “Future Reality” Focused?

1 Chapter a Day’s take

Abraham didn’t focus on his own impotence and say, “It’s hopeless. This hundred-year-old body could never father a child.” Nor did he survey Sarah’s decades of infertility and give up. He didn’t tiptoe around God’s promise asking cautiously skeptical questions. He plunged into the promise and came up strong, ready for God, sure that God would make good on what he had said. Verses 19-21

Abraham was impotent.

Abraham was old.

Sarah was infertile.

Sarah was old.

But, Abraham did not focus on any of the above things…though they were true! He focused on God’s promise — even though the obvious facts made God’s promise look like nonsense! The science of that day declared “there is no way Abraham and Sarah can have a baby!”Yet, Abraham did not accept the science nor the facts. He trusted God.

Abraham’s faith was amazing. And it was this faith that put him in right standing with God.
