1 Chapter a Day’s take

King Saul was burning with jealousy against David and was doing everything in his power to locate David and kill him. David was aware of this so he was running and hiding from Saul. Along Saul’s journey to annihilate David, he needed to go to the bathroom…I love it that the Bible just says it like it is! When he went into a cave to “relieve himself,” it so happened that David was hiding in that very cave. Wow, what a coincidence! (Not really. This entire situation was arranged by God himself).

Saul was unaware that David and his men were in the cave, so he simply “took care of business,” and then left the cave. David could have easily killed Saul while in the cave, but chose to spare his life as Saul was “God’s anointed.” But he did take the opportunity to confront Saul following Saul’s departure from the cave. Saul was blown away that David had not killed him. He asked God to give David a bonus of blessings since David had spared his life.

I would like some feedback on two things:

  1. Do you believe in coincidences? Why or why not?
  2. How should we treat those who are “God’s anointed,” even when “God’s anointed” are not following God?

What is your take?
