1 Chapter a Day’s take:

Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus, but oddly, when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed on where he was for two more days. After the two days, he said to his disciples, “Let’s go back to Judea.” Verses 5-7

When Mary informed Jesus that Lazarus was very sick, Jesus did not immediately go heal him. Oddly, … he stayed on where he was for two more days.

Jesus did not live life based on other peoples preferences or demands. He was here for a purpose and he stayed “on task.” Though he cared about Mary and her brother Lazarus, it was not yet time for him to take care of Lazarus. So he continued fulfilling his purpose where he was.

Jesus was an “on purpose person.” Do you live “on purpose”? Or do you drift here and there depending on what is happening around you? By nature, I tend to drift. But I have grown in this area over the years and continue to do so. Learning NOT to stop what you are doing to run here and there based on what others want you to do is a significant spiritual growth step.

Note: sometimes God wants you to stop what you are doing to help others. In that case, listen to God. The thought for today is referring to the hundreds of times we have little interruptions that distract us that are not God initiated.

What is your take?
