1 Chapter a Day’s take:
In this chapter we read “The 10 Commandments.” These commandments are all expressed in the negative instead of the positive. For example, God could have said for commandment #7: “Be faithful to your spouse.” That would be a positive way to express the same truth…but instead, he said, Do not commit adultery.
Because God sometimes speaks from the negative perspective, some people come to the wrong conclusion that God does not want them to have an enjoyable or good life. Quite the contrary! Remember this:
When God says “Do not,” what is is really saying is “Do not hurt yourself!”
