1 Chapter a Day’s take

we’ll stick to our assigned tasks…Verse 4

The apostles had to deal with distractions, interruptions, and temptations to spend time in ways other than what God had in mind. And these distractions were not “bad” things. Taking care of the poor is highly valued by God as demonstrated in other Bible readings. The apostles were not devaluing the poor. They simply knew that they could not personally take care of the poor and continue to effectively do what God had called them to do…prayer and speaking God’s Word. Verse 4

The poor were still taken care of my others from the church. The “pastors” just can’t do everything that needs to be done in a church. They must focus on the tasks that God has assigned them.

“Lord, help me to be clearly aware of the tasks you have assigned me. And help me say no to other things.”
