02-04-12…Psalm 10…Keep Believing & Ask Boldly

1 Chapter a Day’s Take

This chapter describes someone who feels like God is avoiding them (v1)…is unavailable (v1)… they feel like God has dumped them (v11)…is indifferent to their plight (v11). This person is having problems. Their enemies are frustrating them and causing grief. (This sounds familiar. We all have enemies. Our enemies are not always other people. Our enemies can include: bad habits, unwise choices, negative attitudes, abrupt talking, anger, temptation, habitual sin, etc.)

But the writer of this chapter (David of “David & Goliath” fame) knows that God has not really abandoned him (or anyone else who feels that way). He is bold in asking God for help. He says:

  • Time to get up, God–get moving. v12
  • I dare to believe that the luckless will get lucky someday in you. v14
  • You won’t let them down. v14
  • God’s grace and order wins, v16
  • godlessness loses. v16

Following this confidence in speaking to the “God who seemed absent” The victim’s faint pulse picks up; the hearts of the hopeless pump red blood as you put your ear to their lips (God hears their cry…WooHoo!). Orphans get parents, the homeless get homes. The reign of terror is over, the rule of the gang lords is ended. (verses 17 & 18).

This is encouraging and motivating. Even when God seems distant, keep believing. And ask boldly. Victory is near!
