1 Chapter a Day’s take

One of the great things about being a Christ-follower is the freedom that it brings. This chapter teaches that we may want to voluntarily limit our freedoms for the sake of others.

One of my friends from High School was named Mike. He lived 20 miles away from our little town of Gruver, Texas, but drove to school daily in his Toyota pickup. When a snow storm blew through, Mike would stay at our house so he would not have to drive on treacherous roads. When Mike stayed with us, my mom would not serve pork of any kind for breakfast because Mike was a Seventh Day Adventist and did not believe in eating pork.

It wasn’t that Mike “ran our house.” He was simply a guest. It wasn’t that eating pork is wrong. I think eating pork is right…very right…and tastes yummy!

It’s just that we did not want to tempt him, frustrate him, or cause him to be in an uncomfortable situation. We were voluntarily limiting our freedom for the sake of another.

Have you ever limited your freedom for others. Please share.
