1 Chapter a Day’s take
This chapter warns us against going anywhere near seductive temptation. The word “seduce” stems from Latin and means “to lead astray.” Who or what leads you astray? Verse 8 says absolutely stay out of (that) neighborhood. Don’t even go near that person, place, or thing (& don’t let it come near you)!
Now before you come to the conclusion that God is a cosmic kill-joy, remember this. When God says “don’t,” he is not removing enjoyable things from your life. What he is saying is:
- Don’t squander your life.
- Don’t end your life with regrets.
- Don’t hurt yourself.
- Don’t hurt your family.
In other words, when God says “don’t”, he is saying: do! Do enjoy life to the full! “Thank you God for blessing us with don’ts!
