07-25-12…John 1

by Bruce on July 25, 2012

Note:

We recently read the books of 1st John, 2nd John, & 3rd John. We are now reading the Gospel of John. This book is the 4th book in the New Testament. It is known as one of the four gospels along with Matthew, Mark, & Luke.

In John 20:31, we discover the reason this book was written: These are written down so you will believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and in the act of believing, have real and eternal life in the way he personally revealed it.

If you do not know Jesus Christ personally, this book will help you discover him. If you do know Jesus, this book will build and strengthen your faith!

1 Chapter a Day’s take:

Several times in Chapter 1, John is given the opportunity to brag on himself. He consistently refuses to do so. Instead, he points people to the only one who is really worth bragging about…Jesus Christ!

I like the fact that John was not all about himself. He was all about Jesus. I want to be like this!
