07-19-12…Judges 4

1 Chapter a Day’s take:

This chapter says that Deborah was gifted by God as a prophetess…that is, she was given power and authority from God to receive His Word and communicate it to others. She was consumed with love for God and his commandments. She was continually conscious of his powerful presence and was devoted to God’s ways. When God was looking for someone to speak for him in 1150 BC (approx), he chose Deborah…a woman.

Additionally, she was appointed by God as a “Judge.” In the Bible, a Judge was not only a person who presided over legal hearings. The Judge was also a ruler and military leader. When God was looking for someone to function as the key leader of the Israelites during this time, he chose Deborah…a woman.

This chapter describes a man named Barak, who to afraid to go to battle alone. The only way he would agree to go was if Deborah would go with him. She was approximately 36 years old at the time. She agreed and won the war. In today’s lingo…DEBORAH ROCKED!

I am married to Ruthie and have 3 daughters: Carlee (22), Shaylee (16), and Allee (13). I want you ladies to know that you are the most precious people in the world to me. I also want you to know that you can do ANYTHING…ANYTHING, that God calls you to do. Think Big! Nothing is to big for God to do through YOU!

What is your take?
