1 Chapter a Day’s take

In verse 7 we see that Paul was persecuting the very God that he thought he was serving! Wow…disoriented thinking is common to humanity. This reminds me of Proverbs 14:12: There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

Why do you do the things you do? Because it seems right? If this is the way you live life, watch out! Living by “instinct” is dangerous. The most famous Sports Blooper of all time illustrates this well. Roy Riegels was the center for the University of California football team. He played 3 years without ever having a bad snap. But few people remember him for his excellent play as a center. It was a moment of disorientation that permanently affixed him in Sports Blooper history. He is the guy who cost his team a victory in the 1929 Rose Bowl by picking up a fumble and running the ball to the wrong end zone. Check out this 14 second video:

Roy’s only mistake…following his instincts without solid direction. This is why we must live by a guide outside of our own thinking. That guide for me is the Bible!

If you have ever wondered why daily Bible reading is critical, this is it! I am so glad to have you in the 1 Chapter a Day family! This will keep you on track in doing life…God’s way!
