New Section Begins Today

Today we begin reading the story or Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We get the basics of their story in 8 chapters of the Old Testament. We will continue to read from Psalms and Proverbs on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

1 Chapter a Day’s take

God told Abram: “Leave your country, your family, and your father’s home for a land I will show you”…So Abram left just as God said…Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. (Verse 1 & 4)

Abram was willing to take action on anything God told him to do. His age did not matter. His love for family and friends did not matter. Leaving his home land (his comfort zone) did not matter. The fact that he did not know what direction to go when he left did not matter (God had not yet revealed to him where to go. He was just told to take off. He did). All that mattered to him was hearing from God and taking action.

This truth must be re-emphasized. It was after Abram started traveling that God directed him regarding where to go. This amazing truth has blessed me more times than I can count. If you are not sure what God wants you to do, do something. He can direct you when you are moving far better than he can direct you when sedentary! (Imagine trying to turn a car around when it is not moving. But if you get the car moving, it is easy to steer it in a new direction).
