1 Chapter a Day’s Take
Leisa’s comment yesterday is confirmed again today in this chapter. Jesus is a very busy person. He is traveling on foot and attracting large crowds that always want something from him. He is getting up early and staying up late. He must be exhausted. Yet, Jesus says to his disciples: This crowd is breaking my heart. They have stuck with me for three days, and now they have nothing to eat (verses 1-3).
I am amazed at his compassion and his energy…or his willingness to push through his exhaustion to bless others. He reveals his philosophy in verse 35: Self-help is no help at all. Self -sacrifice is the way, my way, to saving yourself, your true self.
“Jesus, you are amazing! Thank you for living this life philosophy for me. I struggle living this way for others. Please help me to become more like you.”
