1 Chapter a Day’s take

1-2 Jacob learned that Laban’s sons were talking behind his back: “Jacob has used our father’s wealth to make himself rich at our father’s expense.” At the same time, Jacob noticed that Laban had changed toward him. He wasn’t treating him the same.

Jacob had worked for all the wealth he had and had not cheated his father-in-law. But greed caused Laban and his sons to be jealous of Jacob’s success. They were treating Jacob, Leah and Rachel poorly and so Jacob took his family and left the country. Laban ended up losing his daughters and grandchildren because of his greed. We need to be on guard against greed and instead have a spirit of generosity. We may keep our wealth, but end up losing the people in our lives, as Laban did.
