1 Chapter a Day’s take
1When Rachel realized that she wasn’t having any children for Jacob, she became jealous of her sister. She told Jacob, “Give me sons or I’ll die!”
2 Jacob got angry with Rachel and said, “Am I God? Am I the one who refused you babies?”
Unfortunately, Jacob did not respond to Rachel’s heartache the way his father responded to his mother. (Genesis 25) When Rebekah was heart- broken that she was unable to conceive, Isaac prayed for her and God answered his prayer. If Jacob had responded with love to Rachel and prayed for her as Isaac prayed for Rebekah, it’s possible that a lot of the drama that occurred after this event would have been avoided. Isaac’s example of how to treat your wife is a much better one!
