1 Chapter a Day’s take

1-2 Sarah lived 127 years. Sarah died in Kiriath Arba, present-day Hebron, in the land of Canaan. Abraham mourned for Sarah and wept.

Abraham loved Sarah very much and showed this openly after she died. And in the rest of the chapter, he goes to great lengths to purchase a burial spot for her. But not just any spot, but the finest spot in the country. He is extremely respectful to the Hittites whose land he lives in and insists on paying for the burial spot without any haggling. He showed extreme respect and honor to Sarah.

Most of us are not as wealthy as Abraham and so do not need to purchase the finest burial spot, etc. to honor our spouse. But for there to be a whole chapter in the Bible about this event is an indicator of the importance of Sarah to Abraham and as the “mother” of the Israelite nation.
