Truth from Surprising Places — Job 20 — 02.20.13

1 Chapter a Day’s take

Such God-denying people are never content with what they have
        or who they are;
    their greed drives them relentlessly. Verse 20

One of Jobs “friends” is on the attack again. His name is Zophar. And though Zophar has totally misunderstood Job’s circumstances and is anything but loving and supporting, he does speak some truth. The above verse is absolutely true. It was used by Zophar in an inappropriate context, but it is good to note that sometimes, God delivers truth from surprising places.

I once heard a sermon on authenticity that was preached by one of the least authentic people I have ever known. Yet, God used it to reveal issues in my own life that needed to be addressed and corrected. I did my best to hear God in spite of the person preaching the message. God used that sermon to bring significant spiritual growth into my life.

So, make sure you keep your ears open. God may speak to you from surprising places.
