05-31-12…Exodus 13

1 Chapter a Day’s take:

Verse 3…Always remember this day.

Verse 8…Tell your child…

When God does great things in our lives, we must make a conscious effort to remember it. And we must communicate the great things God has done for us to our children, and grandchildren. One way to do this is to collect trinkets or mementos that remind us of the things God has done for us. Place them in a basket or box. When you encounter challenges in life, or when your faith is tested, go to that basket or box. Take out the trinkets and remember how God has brought you through things in the past. And be sure to share these memories with your children. You may want to help them to start their own basket or box.

Example: Two years ago, my wife and daughters were in a serious automobile accident. They survived and are doing fine today. The car was totaled, but I kept the key to that car. That key is in my “Don’t Forget” box. When I see that key, I am reminded of how God protected my family in the midst of a terrible accident.
