01-29-12…Psalm 9…Marching to the Beat of a Different Drummer

1 Chapter a Day’s Take

The first 2 verses are awesome: I’m thanking you, God, from a full heart, I’m writing the book on your wonders. I’m whisteling, laughing, and jumping for joy; I’m singing your song, High God.

Have you ever heard the phrase, “he marches to the beat of a different drummer?” This phrase is derived from the writings of the American philosopher Henry David Thoreau, who wrote: “If a man loses pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured, or far away.”

In these 2 verses, David (of David and Goliath fame…and the author of most of the Psalms) is marching to the beat of God (I’m singing your song, High God). This results in a heart that was running over with gratitude. There was a spring in David’s step and joy in his heart.

I will march to the beat of Almighty God!

What is your take?
