1 Chapter a Day’s Take
A man is paralyzed. His quality of life is gone. His greatest need is obviously to be healed so he can get up, walk, and enjoy life again…right? WRONG!
Jesus saw this man’s physical condition and his response was: Son, I forgive your sins. (verse 5). From an earthly perspective, the man needed physical healing. But Jesus sees things in light of eternity. If Jesus were to heal him physically, that would be a temporary fix as the man would still die someday and be separated from God forever. From an eternal perspective, he needed his sins forgiven so he could live with God in Heaven forever.
Jesus goes on to heal the man physically. But Jesus makes it clear. Our biggest need is forgiveness of sin. I am so grateful for the forgiveness Jesus has given me. Even when things on Earth are not going well, my sins have been forgiven by Jesus! Can you say REASON TO CELEBRATE?
